The first thing to know is the fact that in Poland more than the 86% belongs to the catholicism and the foreigners even if they are muslims or atheists, or another religion needs to understand the fact that the Polish culture is not only one religion. In the other hand, the official language is the Polish and the people can getting more envolve in the Polish culture with having knowledge of this (at least the basics), however, every person can communicate with english with no problem cause the official language is not easy at all.
It might be applied for some people and not to others that if some foreigner are not caucasian then it may be some comments from the citizens. From the Polish it is common to kiss each other three times during official situations (family, friends and holidays) but if a foreigner are just new in the country then it is better just stick to a handshake because the kisses are given whitin people who trust each other.
